Deal AI suggests changes; you apply them

Ask Deal AI to add requests for the last three years of tax returns, mark a batch as completed, assign items to a teammate, move a request, comment, or ask the seller a question. It doesn't change anything on its own: it shows a card listing each proposed change, with before and after where it helps, and Apply and Cancel buttons. Click Apply and the change is made as you, with your usual permissions, and recorded in the deal's activity log. Related changes come together in one card, and a suggestion expires after a day so nothing stale gets applied.

AI Connect for your whole team

Contributors with a subscription can now make changes through a connected AI assistant too, within what the deal's contributor settings allow — commenting, Q&A, status, priority, due dates and assignments, plus creating, editing and moving requests or uploading files when the deal permits it. Viewers stay read-only.

Connected assistants can also do a lot more: read file summaries, the activity feed and your assignments; ask and answer Q&A; update many requests at once; restore deleted requests and files; tag files and mark them confidential; add written responses; and apply templates. Owners and admins can manage the team and create share and upload links from the chat. Deleting, sending invites, removing access or creating a link outsiders can open always needs your confirmation first.

Imported request lists keep their structure

Import Template now reads existing request lists far more faithfully. It finds the header row even under titles and instructions, turns a category column into sections, turns outline numbering like 1, 1.1 and 1.1.1 into sections and requests, keeps a multi-line cell as one request, drops placeholder rows such as "TBD" or "N/A", and groups a list with no headings into sections by topic. Priorities like "Critical" or "ASAP" import as Urgent.

    Also new

    • Deal AI does exact math for totals, percentages, growth and margins, and can tell you what changed recently, who is on the team and what is assigned to you.
    • Redaction of sensitive information now handles long and scan-heavy PDFs.
    • P&L summaries of monthly or quarterly statements cover the full period, and LOI summaries handle price ranges.

Plus miscellaneous bug fixes, features and upgrades.

Your AI assistant can now update the data room

Until now, an AI assistant connected through Vetting Vault's MCP server could only read your deals. Now it can do the work too, on deals where you're an owner or admin: create, edit, move, reorder, assign and delete requests; create projects and sections; upload, move and delete files; post comments; copy requests into another project; and open a new deal. Clean up a request list or file a batch of documents straight from your AI chat.

Every change is recorded in the deal's activity log under your name, destructive actions need an explicit confirmation, and deleted requests go to the recoverable trash. Settings → AI Connect now has setup steps for Claude, ChatGPT and Grok — they all use the same server URL.

    Copy requests into another project

Select requests in a project and choose Copy / Move to duplicate them — with their files, written responses and AI summaries — into another project or section of the deal. The originals stay as they are. Bring the comments along if you want them; assignments are never copied. Large selections copy in the background with a progress view.

    Know when someone replies

Once you've commented on a request or in a deal chat thread, you get a notification and an email when someone replies — not just when you're @mentioned. You're never notified about your own replies, emails are limited to one per thread every 30 minutes, and your comment notification setting still applies.

    Also new

    • A clearer invitation page: before accepting, people see the deal, the company, their role, who invited them, when the invite expires and whether an NDA is required. They're sent to sign in or create an account with the invited email already filled in, and land straight in the deal.
    • Approval alerts: on deals that require approval to join, owners and admins get an email and a banner on the deal overview when someone is waiting, and the person waiting sees that their request is pending.
    • Deal AI can open a specific request with its files and details, and look up the deal's Q&A and sections directly.
    • Deal admins, not just the owner, can invite, change roles and remove members in Deal Options.
    • The signer's name now appears as a signature on the signed NDA PDF.

Plus miscellaneous bug fixes, features and upgrades.

    June 2026 in Vetting Vault

Restrict a project to the people who should see it, upload many files faster, and give outside uploaders a clearer page.

    • Restrict a project to selected members
    • Faster multi-file uploads
    • A clearer page for outside uploaders
    Read the full update

Restrict a project to selected members

Some workstreams aren't for everyone on the deal. Owners and admins can now limit a project to the deal members they pick — when creating it, or later in Project settings → Access. Everyone else doesn't see the project at all: not in lists, files, downloads, exports, search, Deal AI, notifications, activity or the @mention picker. Restricted projects show a lock, and the Restricted label lists who has access. Projects stay open to the whole deal unless you restrict them.

    Faster multi-file uploads

Uploading several files now sends them in parallel, with a progress bar for each file and for the whole batch. If some fail, "Retry failed" re-sends just those files.

A clearer page for outside uploaders

People uploading through an Intake Link see clearer steps: the upload button sits under their queued files, Submit explains what's still needed, and they can see the comments they've posted. Their comments also appear in the request's activity for your team.

Plus miscellaneous bug fixes, features and upgrades.

    May 2026 in Vetting Vault

Deal AI now builds charts, Excel workbooks and PDF reports. Plus project cloning, an AI off switch and summaries for many more documents.

    • Deal AI builds charts, spreadsheets and reports
    • Clone a project into another deal
    • Turn AI off for a deal
    Read the full update

Deal AI builds charts, spreadsheets and reports

Ask Deal AI for a chart, a spreadsheet or a written report and it builds a real file from the deal's data, right in the chat. Charts include bar, line, area, pie, scatter, heatmap and waterfall — handy for an EBITDA bridge. Excel workbooks come properly formatted, and PDF reports have headings, tables and key-figure cards. Preview, download, or attach the result to a request, and find everything you've made in the new Library tab.

Clone a project into another deal

Running the same process with the next buyer? Clone a whole project — sections, requests, files, AI summaries and written responses — into another deal where you're an owner or admin. Choose whether to keep request statuses and which comments to bring. The original stays exactly as it was. Find it under Clone Project in the project's Actions menu.

Turn AI off for a deal

When a counterparty or jurisdiction doesn't allow AI, owners and admins can switch it off for one deal — when creating it, or later in Deal Settings. That stops Deal AI, document recognition and AI summaries for that deal. Redaction of sensitive data on upload keeps working.

    Also new

    • AI summaries for many more documents: resumes, leases, contracts (change of control, liability caps, renewals, exclusivity), insurance policies, employment agreements, audit reports, pitch decks, appraisals, operating agreements, loan agreements and request lists. LOI summaries now show enterprise value next to cash at close.
    • Confirm or correct a document type: when Vetting Vault isn't sure what a file is, it asks, and "Wrong type?" lets you fix it. The summary rebuilds and Deal AI uses your correction.
    • A roomier Deal AI: widen the panel, see its steps folded into one line, and read answers before the citations.
    • Deal AI reads multi-tab workbooks tab by tab, so it can compare years within one file.
    • Add context when generating a template with AI, such as the software a business uses or recent events, and get requests tailored to it.
    • Searching or filtering a project hides sections with no matches.

Plus miscellaneous bug fixes, features and upgrades.

    Deal AI

Ask plain-language questions about a deal and get answers drawn from its requests, files, Q&A and comments, with links to the sources.

Require an NDA before people see a deal

Turn on "Require NDA to join" when you create a deal, or later in its settings, and new members sign a mutual NDA before they can see anything. They confirm their name, title and company, see a preview of their signature and agree — when accepting the invite, or from a prompt on the deal page — and get access straight away. Keep reusable NDA templates in Settings, and see every signature with its details in the deal's NDAs drawer. A signed PDF is emailed to the owner and the signer.

AI summaries of financial and deal documents

When you upload an LOI, term sheet, P&L, balance sheet, bank statement or tax return, Vetting Vault builds a short summary with the key figures for that kind of document. Open it from the sparkle on the file, see the headline figure next to the filename, and click "Ask Deal AI about this file" to dig in. Financial analyses such as EBITDA bridges and working-capital schedules get a summary of their own.

AI Connect: your deals inside Claude and other AI assistants

Vetting Vault now has its own MCP server — the open standard AI assistants use to connect to other software. Subscribers can plug it into Claude on the web or desktop as a connector: copy the server URL from Settings → AI Connect, add it in Claude, sign in and approve. Claude Code, scripts and other MCP-compatible tools connect with a personal API token instead.

Once connected, you can work on your deals from the assistant you already use, without uploading anything to it. Ask it to:

    • List your deals and pull a full deal overview: requests, files, team members and statuses.
    • Go through request lists and open any request with its files, comments and activity.
    • Read the deal's Q&A.
    • Search across the files in a deal and read any document in full, or its AI summary.
    • Read spreadsheets tab by tab, and pull tables out of financial PDFs for analysis.
    • Download files for the assistant to work with directly.

So you can ask Claude to compare the tax returns against the P&L or summarize what has arrived this week, working from documents it reads straight out of Vetting Vault. Everything stays within your own access: the assistant sees only the deals and files you can see, and the Connected AI apps list in Settings shows every connected app and lets you disconnect any of them.

    Redact sensitive information on upload

When uploading a PDF, tick "Redact sensitive information" and Vetting Vault removes Social Security and Employer ID numbers — plus phone, bank account and card numbers if you choose — before the file is stored. Only the redacted version is kept, and the file is marked Redacted.

See what happened, and what arrived

    • A redesigned Activity page: a day-by-day timeline with file names, status changes and comment text. Bulk changes appear as one entry, and Q&A events jump straight to the question.
    • Recent Files: one list of every new file with search, project and date filters, and Download All for exactly what you filtered.
    • Latest Activity on the deal overview shows the five most recent events next to your open requests.
    • Clearer status tracking: submitted and completed requests are counted separately, completed ones are dimmed, and a Review submitted button appears when work is waiting for you.

Sharing, inviting and setting up deals

    • Share links: let recipients download everything as one ZIP organized by section, see each visitor and what they viewed and downloaded, export the access log, edit every setting after creating a link, and extend expired links in one click. Recipients get a cleaner, faster page.
    • Invite many people at once by pasting a list of email addresses, even one copied from a spreadsheet.
    • Q&A email alerts: owners hear about new questions, askers hear about answers, and @name or @everyone notifies people directly.
    • Delete chat messages and Q&A posts you no longer want.
    • Deal Options: one settings window for a deal's details, members, permissions, display, NDA, branding and exports, including a choice to dim completed requests.
    • Apply only part of a template: tick the sections and requests you want before applying.
    • Faster list building: Add Request in the project tab bar, inline new sections and a starting screen for empty projects.
    • Copy Deal AI answers and tables straight into Excel, Google Sheets, Word or email with formatting intact.
    • AI Assist drafts your deal description when you create a deal.

Plus miscellaneous bug fixes, features and upgrades.

    New feature

Deal AI: Ask Anything About Your Deal

Ask plain-language questions about a deal and get answers drawn from its requests, files, Q&A and comments, with links to the sources.

    Read the full update

Every deal now has an assistant that knows it inside out. Open Deal AI from the header and ask what you would ask a well-briefed colleague: what's still missing, where the risks and gaps are, how far along each party is, or whether the tax returns line up with the financial statements.

    How it works

    • Deal AI reads the deal's requests, uploaded files (including spreadsheets and the full text of documents), Q&A and comments as it needs them.
    • Every answer links to its sources, so one click opens the file or request it is based on.
    • Scanned PDFs are run through text recognition, so Deal AI — and deal search — can read them too.
    • Starter questions help you get going, and Deal AI only ever looks at the deal you have open.
    • On a phone, Deal AI opens full screen from the bottom navigation bar.

    Who can use it

Everyone on the deal — owners, admins, contributors and viewers — can ask Deal AI questions, and it only uses what that deal contains. If a deal requires an NDA, members sign it before they can use Deal AI.

Sync deal files to your own cloud storage, send deal events to your other tools, and number every request automatically.

    • Cloud Sync to Dropbox, Box, Google Drive and OneDrive
    • Webhooks for Zapier, Make, Slack and your own systems
    • Automatic reference numbers
    • Stronger watermarks and a tidier share view
    Read the full update

Cloud Sync to Dropbox, Box, Google Drive and OneDrive

Subscribers can connect their own cloud storage and have a deal's files copied there automatically. Connect an account under Settings → Storage, then open Cloud Sync in the deal. Turning it on also syncs the files already in the deal, and Sync All Files brings everything up to date with a progress count. Files are filed by deal, project, section and request, so they're easy to find in your own storage, and each file shows whether it has synced.

Webhooks for Zapier, Make, Slack and your own systems

Send a real-time notification to another tool whenever something happens on the deals you choose — a request created or its status changed, a file uploaded, a comment added, a Q&A question asked or answered, a guest upload received and more. Add an endpoint in Settings → Webhooks, pick the events, send a test ping and check the delivery log. Failed deliveries are retried automatically. Webhooks are available to subscribers, for deals where they are an owner or admin.

    Automatic reference numbers

New deals number their sections and requests automatically — 1, 2, 3 for sections and 1.1, 1.2 for requests — so everyone can refer to "item 3.4" on a call. Drag a request to a new spot and the numbers update, with the new number shown while you drag. Numbers already in an imported list are removed so they don't double up.

Stronger watermarks and a tidier share view

Watermarked share links now stamp Word and Excel files as well as PDFs, on single downloads and download-all. Turn watermarking on or off per link and choose an intensity from Subtle to Bold. Recipients see shared files grouped by section and request, with collapsible sections and a download button for each.

    Also new

    • Move requests in bulk: select requests and move them to another section or project, with the action bar staying on screen as you scroll.
    • Apply Template improvements: search your templates, see the newest first, and choose whether new items go at the top or bottom of the project.
    • Export Requests: download a CSV of a project's requests with their status and written responses.
    • Import Template: drag and drop your file, and CSV files are now accepted.
    • Transfer deal ownership: hand a deal to another admin on it, keeping an admin role yourself.
    • Q&A notifications open the exact question that was answered or mentioned you.

Plus miscellaneous bug fixes, features and upgrades.

    January 2026 in Vetting Vault

Search inside every document in a deal, send fillable forms with your requests, and let Vetting Vault recognize what was uploaded.

    • Search everything in a deal, including inside documents
    • Send fillable forms with your requests
    • Vetting Vault recognizes what was uploaded
    Read the full update

Search everything in a deal, including inside documents

Every deal has a search box in the header (Cmd+K or Ctrl+K jumps to it). It searches requests, files, Q&A, chat, comments, team members, projects and sections. Turn on "Search inside documents" to search the text of uploaded PDFs, Word and Excel files, CSVs and text files too — new uploads are indexed automatically. Click a result and it opens the exact request, file, comment, question or chat message.

Send fillable forms with your requests

In the template builder you can attach a file, such as a blank form, to any item. When the template is applied, that file comes along on the request marked "Download & Complete". People uploading through an Intake Link see a Complete & Upload box, so they can download the form, fill it in and upload it in the same place.

Vetting Vault recognizes what was uploaded

After a file is uploaded, Vetting Vault works out what kind of document it is — a bank statement or a tax return, for example — and the period it covers. A sparkle icon on the file shows the details, so you can tell what arrived without opening it. If AI is turned off for a deal, this is turned off too.

    Also new

    • Preview images, video and audio in Vetting Vault without downloading them first.
    • People you send a share link to can preview PDFs, images and Office documents in their browser before downloading.
    • A better experience on phones: a bottom navigation bar with Activity, Search and Create, a quicker project switcher and a redesigned request view.

Plus miscellaneous bug fixes, features and upgrades.

Q&A, Intake Links, Secure Share Links, custom branding, two-factor sign-in and whole-deal downloads.

    • Intake Links: collect documents without making anyone sign up
    • Secure Share Links: give outsiders just what they need
    • Your branding on every deal
    • Two-factor authentication
    • Download a whole deal or project
    • Move between projects faster
    Read the full update

Q&A: every due diligence question in one place

Every deal now has a Q&A page where the whole team asks questions and records answers, instead of losing them in email. Give questions categories, let more than one person answer, @mention a teammate or use # to point to a specific request, and filter by category or by answered and unanswered to see what is still open. Search and sort the list, and export it to CSV when you need to share it outside the deal.

Intake Links: collect documents without making anyone sign up

On a project's Intake Link tab, owners and admins create a link with a title and instructions, and choose whether to allow comments and require the uploader's name and email. Sellers, accountants or borrowers open the link, see the requests, upload their files and submit, with no account needed. Every file lands in the matching request.

Secure Share Links: give outsiders just what they need

On a project's Share tab, owners and admins share everything, whole sections or individual requests with a lender, buyer or advisor who isn't in the deal. Protect a link with a password or require recipients to verify their email address, set an expiry date, and see who opened it in the access log. You can also watermark downloads with the viewer's email, IP address and the time. Recipients can view and download single files or everything at once.

    Your branding on every deal

Upload your logo and choose an accent color — Vetting Vault can suggest one from your logo — plus a light or dark sidebar. Your branding becomes the default for new deals, and the deal owner can change it per deal, so clients and counterparties see your brand.

    Two-factor authentication

Protect your account with an authenticator app. Turn it on in Settings → Security, scan the QR code and confirm a 6-digit code. From then on, signing in asks for a code after your password, so a leaked password alone can't open your deals.

Download a whole deal or project

Owners and admins can build a ZIP of every file in a deal, leaving out any project the person isn't allowed to see. Any project member can download all of a project's files as a ZIP from the project menu.

    Move between projects faster

Inside a project, a Projects panel lists every project in the deal with its progress and lets you jump between them in one click. The sidebar's Requests link takes you back to the last project you worked in.

    Also new

    • AI Assist for new requests: describe what you need in plain words and get a clear title, description, priority and file type.
    • Copy files and comments from another request in the deal instead of re-uploading.
    • Select many requests at once on a project page to assign them or change status or priority in one step.
    • Accept or decline deal invitations right from your Deals page.
