AI Connect
AI Connect links Vetting Vault to the AI app you already use. Once connected, you can ask Claude or ChatGPT to set up a request list from a document, invite people, chase open items, or compare figures across files, and it does the work in your deal, as you.
Overview
AI Connect is a connector (an MCP server, the standard way AI apps plug into other software). Your AI app signs in to Vetting Vault on your behalf and gets about 60 actions: everything from reading a spreadsheet to creating requests, sending invitations and making share links.
It works across every deal you belong to, with exactly the access you have in each one. If you can’t do something in the app, your AI can’t do it either.
AI Connect or Deal AI?
Before You Start
- A paid Vetting Vault plan or free trial. AI Connect is part of the paid plan. If your subscription lapses, connected apps stop working until you subscribe again.
- An AI app that supports custom connectors. In most AI apps this needs a paid plan on their side too.
- The server URL:
https://app.vettingvault.com/api/mcp. You can also copy it from Settings → AI Connect in Vetting Vault.
Connect Your AI App
The steps are the same everywhere: add a custom connector, paste the URL, sign in.
Claude
- In Claude (web or desktop), open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Paste
https://app.vettingvault.com/api/mcpand save. - Claude sends you to Vetting Vault. Sign in, review the list of what Claude will be able to do, and click Approve.
A connector added on the web also shows up in Claude’s desktop and mobile apps.
ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Choose Add custom connector, paste
https://app.vettingvault.com/api/mcpand save. - Sign in to Vetting Vault when asked and click Approve.
Grok
- Go to grok.com/connectors, choose New connector, then Custom.
- Paste
https://app.vettingvault.com/api/mcp, then sign in to Vetting Vault and click Approve.
Claude Code, Cursor and Other Tools
Command-line and coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf and Codex connect with a personal token instead of a sign-in screen:
- In Vetting Vault, open Settings → AI Connect → Advanced: CLI tokens and click Create token.
- Copy the token straight away. It’s shown only once.
- Copy the configuration shown on that page into your tool’s MCP settings.
Treat a token like a password
What Your AI Can Do
Anything below, as long as your role in that deal allows it:
- Set up deals: create deals, projects and sections; create requests (one or many at once); apply your templates; copy requests between projects.
- Keep work moving: change status, priority, due dates, titles and descriptions; assign requests; update up to 100 requests in one go; reorder and move requests.
- Talk to people: comment on requests, add written responses, ask and answer questions in Q&A.
- Handle files: upload files to a request, move files, tag them, mark them confidential, and restore deleted requests and files.
- Manage access (owners and admins): invite people, extend or revoke invitations, change roles, remove members, and create view links and upload links.
- Read and analyze: search inside every file, read full documents and spreadsheets, pull tables out of scanned financial statements, and read each file’s AI summary card.
Not sure what you're allowed to do?
Things to Ask
- “Set up the request list from this Word doc in the Pinecrest deal. Keep their sections.”
- “Apply my SBA checklist template to the new borrower project.”
- “Invite dana@example.com as a contributor on the Pinecrest deal.”
- “What’s still open in Financial? Assign it all to Dana, due Friday.”
- “Mark everything in Legal that has a file as completed.”
- “Compare revenue across the tax return, the P&L and the bank deposits.”
- “Make an upload link for the lender that expires in two weeks.”
- “Which of my deals have requests overdue this week?”
Permissions and Safeguards
- It acts as you. Your AI sees only the deals and projects you can see. Owners and admins can change everything; contributors can change what the deal’s settings allow; viewers can read but not change anything.
- Confidential files and NDAs still apply. If a deal requires an NDA you haven’t signed, or a file is confidential and your role can’t open it, your AI can’t read it either.
- Everything is logged. Every change appears in the deal’s activity log under your name.
Changes That Need Your OK
These actions only happen after you say yes in the chat. Your AI will describe exactly what it’s about to do first:
- Deleting a request or file (deleted items can be restored for 30 days)
- Sending, extending or revoking an invitation
- Removing someone from a deal
- Creating, extending or revoking a view link or upload link
- Applying a template that would add more than 50 requests
Disconnecting
Open Settings → AI Connect. Every app you’ve approved is listed under Connected AI apps. Click Disconnect and that app’s access ends immediately. Personal tokens are listed under Advanced: CLI tokens; delete one to revoke it.
Troubleshooting
- “Connecting AI tools needs an active Vetting Vault subscription.” Your trial or subscription has ended. Subscribe in Settings → Subscription, then reconnect.
- I don’t see Approve on the sign-in screen. The screen shows an upgrade message instead when your account has no subscription or trial.
- My AI says it can’t change something. Your role in that deal doesn’t allow it. Ask a deal owner or admin to change the deal’s permissions or your role.
- It stopped working after a while. Most apps reconnect on their own. If not, remove the connector and add it again.
